I've been mega-super-ultra busy lately with illustrated guides and comics. This is a summary of my most recent stuff.
I think some (all?) of us can relate to this. This comic is one of my favorites, maybe because I've spent way too much time in the dating scene.
I created this around Halloween. I drew most of the material in this, except the pictures of the Yak and the chainsaw I found through google images.
Ironically, I have no beard. This didn't stop me from encouraging everyone else to grow one.
After beards I moved onto cats, starting with skitters and then progressing to this guide:
Growing up, my family had a LOT of cats. 10+ of them (yeah, we were that family). I don't have a cat now, but I know how their conniving little minds work.
This illustrated guide did incredibly well. I launched it while in las vegas at pubcon, and it nearly took my server down while I was having dinner with some friends. I launched it on Wednesday, since then the guide has received almost 2 million page views in 4 days! I've received a ton of emails from people who enjoyed it, even one from a publishing firm from Los Angeles who wanted to know if I was interested in a book deal.
I'm trying to decide what to do with any future guides I create. They're working really well to get the word out about Mingle2, but they've also kind of become their own thing. I was considering either opening up an entire comics section on Mingle2, or just creating an entirely new website devoted exclusively to comics.
I am a 27 year old web designer, developer, and online marketer.
In early 2007 I built a full-featured online dating website, from concept to launch, in only 66.5 hours. The end result was Mingle2, and within six months the website received several million visitors and was eventually acquired by a competitor. Mingle2 now receives 40 million page views a month.
Prior to working full-time at Mingle2, I co-founded SEOmoz and acted as CTO, web designer, and web developer.
I now focus my energies on The Oatmeal, an entertainment site full of comics, quizzes, and other delights.

Did you ever see that Dexter's Lab episode where he grows a beard to be more rugged? Dexter and Action Hank team up and use their impenetrable beards to deflect various projectiles. You're probably too old to have seen it but your images totally reminded me of it. Awesome.

I love the image of the cat's guide. The cat at my job has tried to "kill me" this morning because i pushed her of my keyboard.

Funny and true. I've got a cat staring at me right now. Well, staring just to the right of me trying to unnerve me until I go and open a sachet of the new cat food.

I'm gonna try to grow a beard now. Although a red haired beard always looks funny... especially on a female...

Yeah...the rickrolling thing is pretty low-class. This website is terrible, too. Really. Do you expect to get readers doing shit like that? REALLY? Fucking moron. Anyway, I'm going to stop trolling around here and do something about it. DoS, Anyone?

I hope you know that these cartoons made me laugh constantly for about 10 minutes, a feat that deserves great honor and congratulation. GREAT work. :)
